Which cars have the largest fuel reserve: five leading brands
A new study conducted in the UK has shown that drivers believe they can only drive about 25 kilometers after a low fuel sensor is triggered in their car. However, they are wrong.
According to the Express, technical data indicates that the average distance that can be driven from the moment the sensor lights up is about 80 kilometers longer. This is about three times more than the figure expected by drivers.
Experts also ranked the cars that have the best low-fuel range of any car. To see this list, read the news to the end.
Nevertheless, mechanics do not advise you to delay the arrival at the gas station after the fuel level indicator is activated. Driving with an almost empty tank carries a number of risks. For example, it can damage the engine.
To reduce these risks, experts advise avoiding driving at high speeds when this indicator is on. Also, to save money, you should turn off all electronics, such as the radio or air conditioning.
If you want to save on gasoline or diesel, you should develop a few habits. For example, drive smoothly - without jerking, maintain a steady speed limit, avoid idling the engine, and keep the tires inflated. All this helps the car to use less energy while driving, and thus saves fuel.
As for their habits related to the frequency of refueling, the study showed that British motorists drive with the gasoline level sensor on an average of six days a year. At the same time, 23% of respondents say they do not refuel until the gas tank light comes on. Another 36% admitted that they had at least once faced a situation where they ran out of fuel on the road.
Here are the top five cars with the longest range from the moment the fuel gauge lights up:
- Toyota Prius - 160 km;
- Mercedes Benz E-Class - 135 km;
- Range Rover - 120 km;
- Honda CR-V - 110 km;
- Jaguar F-Pace - 110 km.
