Which cars are expensive to repair: the brands that are not advised to buy are named
A car is always a costly purchase. Regardless of the initial costs, every driver wants to have a car that will not be burdened by the need for expensive and regular repairs.
Experts have conducted a study and made a rating of models, the purchase of which it is better to avoid, if you do not want to provide yourself with unnecessary costs. These cars are very expensive to repair and maintain. Mechanic Chris Pyle noted that usually people who can afford the cars listed below can also afford proper maintenance and repairs. Sometimes even just basic maintenance is absurdly expensive.
Nissan
Nissan mostly produces affordable mid-range models, and all of them are relatively reliable and economical. However, JustAnswer mechanical expert Chris Pyle emphasized that the GT-R is an exception in Nissan's lineup. The original Nissan GT-R was first introduced in 1969 under the name Skyline. These models are hard to find, especially the R32, which has become one of the most sought after among collectors due to its advanced technology and impressive performance. According to Car and Driver, the latest GT-R will cost you between $123,000 and $223,000 depending on features and condition. Plus you'll have to splurge on maintenance.
BMW
CarEdge experts analyzed the market and ranked the 15 most expensive cars. This list included more BMW models than any other brand. According to RepairPal, BMWs require expensive maintenance (an average of $968 per year). Overall, the brand ranks 30th out of 32 car brands in the reliability study. If you own any of the X-series cars, expect to pay between $17,516 (for the X1) and $18,900 (for the X6 M) for repairs over ten years.
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz is a classic combination of luxury and modern technology. Mercedes is known for premium materials and powerful engines. Unfortunately, the models do not rank high in reliability ratings, and repairs are quite expensive. Steven Elek, head of the vehicle data analytics program at Consumer Reports, said, "Over 10 years, maintenance and repair costs for Mercedes-Benz models are more than double those of Lincoln models."
Land Rover
Land Rover is known for its sturdy four-wheel-drive vehicles. However, repairs will cost an average of $735 in annual costs in the first year and about $18,228 for maintenance and repairs during the first ten years of operation according to CarEdge. Reliability was questioned by RepairPal, with Land Rover ranked 31 out of 32. Consumer Reports ranked Land Rover as the second worst car brand (Jeep is first) in terms of estimated maintenance and repair costs. This is partly explained by expensive exclusive spare parts.
Porsche
Overall, 51.17% of Porsche will need major repairs in the first ten years. According to CarEdge, that's 16.08% more than other brands in the same price range. As far as models go, you'd think that repairs on high-end 911s would cost more, but it's the Cayenne and Macan that are the two most expensive Porsche's to maintain.
Bentley
The Bentley Bentayga (average price of $287,638) and Continental GT ($364,625) are the two most expensive luxury cars to maintain, with 10-year maintenance costs of $27,967 and $23,331, respectively. Including depreciation, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs, experts estimate that owning a Bentley for five years would cost an average of $285,586.
Ferrari
According to several Ferrari dealerships, the average annual cost of car maintenance ranges from $1,500 to $2,000. Specialist Doug DeMuro estimated that in practice the costs were higher: more than $2,300 for tire changes and oil changes, more than $1,700 to replace front brake pads and rotors. But for a work of art, which usually costs from 150 000 dollars, expect to pay a lot of money in case of unexpected repairs.
