Christmas and New Year's locations in Poland

With the onset of December, everyone starts to fuss even more. Some people think about what gifts to buy, while others think about what dishes to put on the holiday table. With all these preparations, one should not forget about traveling. After all, during this atmospheric period, the whole world is dressed in bright lights that are definitely worth seeing. So where to go - read below.

Warsaw

First, visit the Christmas market. Here you can find old wooden houses where you can buy handmade products, sweets, Christmas decorations, toys, and more.

Be sure to try the baked chestnuts, traditional Polish sausages and mulled wine.

You can also go ice skating and see a nativity scene.

Next, we suggest taking a walk in the Old Town and seeing the main Christmas tree of the capital. You can also go to Rynok Square, where an ice rink is set up every year. If you are traveling with children, visit Novy Sviat Street, where there are entertainment areas with themed attractions. It is here that kids can take a photo with St. Nicholas.

On Christmas Eve, Lazienki Park turns into a fabulous light installation. Trees, sculptures and architecture are decorated with garlands. And the Palace of Culture and Science will be the best place to watch New Year's fireworks.

Krakow

We advise you to start your trip with one of the oldest holiday fairs, which lasts from late November to January 1.

Christmas melodies are played on the central Market Square, and folk groups dance. Travelers can buy Christmas decorations and souvenirs. We recommend tasting traditional Polish dishes: Krakow porridge with raisins, mushroom soup and oscipek cheese with cranberry jam.

Also visit the Royal Castle on Wawel. In 1978, the building was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It was built by order of King Casimir III.

And, of course, take a walk along the Vistula River embankment. Here you can see the legendary fire-breathing dragon. And there is a Ferris wheel nearby.

Wrocław

On the eve of Christmas, the city turns into a real fairy tale where gnomes become the main characters. In early December, a huge gate appears on Swidnicka Street, guarded by giant short men.

There is a legend that if you knock on the hat of Presentus three times and make a wish, it will definitely come true.

In addition to meeting fairy tale creatures, we recommend visiting the fair on Rynok Square. Here travelers can taste gingerbread, pancakes, Polish sausages and local mulled wine with black pepper and vanilla.

Zakopane

What are New Year's holidays without active entertainment? The ski resort is located in the south of Poland near the only mountains in the country.

There are several ski areas: Polana Szymoszkowa, Gubalówka, Nosal, etc.

There are 3 cable cars in Kasprowy Wierch. The longest route is over 9 kilometers long. There are also 2 additional routes at the top: red and black.

Tourists can rent equipment, attend a ski school, go skiing and snowboarding. They can also swim in the geothermal waters in the water park.

Gdansk

A town that turns into a real fairy tale for children at Christmas! There is a St. Nicholas post office here, where every kid can tell their dreams.

At the holiday fairs, you can ride a Venetian carousel, skate on a skating rink and meet real angels.

Adults are welcome to visit the holiday fair. Keep in mind that the attraction will run until December 23. We suggest visiting the Coal Market, where you can taste a variety of food from around the world. The main stage also hosts animations and theater performances every Tuesday, and contests and parties every Friday.

Enjoy the festive atmosphere of Poland.
