Where to celebrate Valentine's Day in Ukraine: top romantic places

Albina PanchenkoNews

Have you thought about how to surprise your loved one this year and create an unforgettable evening? How about going on a little adventure together? After all, it's important to escape from everyday worries from time to time and enjoy the company of your dearest person. And you don't have to spend a lot of money to do it. Today we are going to tell you about atmospheric Ukrainian locations for your trip.

Lovers' Island, Ternopil

It is located in the Taras Shevchenko Park. The natural center was created artificially by adding soil.

It is said that the water around it can reflect the future. In winter, when the pond is covered with ice, the island can be reached on foot, which is especially popular with young people.

A gazebo has been set up here, where men have dates, confess their feelings, and propose. Couples attach locks with their names to the bridge railing, and the keys are usually thrown into the pond so that no one can break their union.

There is a legend about a beautiful girl named Terna who fell in love with a young man named Pol. However, a tragedy happened - they were both killed by enemy arrows. Then the lovers were buried together and a high grave was filled in. Over time, the Seret River overflowed and flooded the field, but their final resting place remained intact.

Italian Courtyard, Lviv

Located in the Korniakt Palace on Rynok Square. The attraction was created by architects Petro Barbon and Pavlo Roman by order of a wealthy burgher.

The courtyard, surrounded by a three-tiered arcade, is a typical example of Renaissance architecture. Here you can often see couples in love or newlyweds taking pictures.

The building was designed in such a way as to create a feeling of comfort and privacy, fenced off from the bustle of the city.

We also recommend taking a walk in the center, drinking local coffee and visiting the chocolate workshop.

Sofiyivka Dendrological Park, Uman

Located on Kyivska Street in Cherkasy region in the northern part of the city.

The natural center was founded by tycoon Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki in 1796 and named in honor of his wife Zofia.

The military engineer Ludwig Metzel created the topographical and architectural design of the park and supervised its construction.

The attraction was built on an almost treeless area crossed by the Kamianka River with ravines and gullies. The terrain was used as it was, although without a preliminary plan. By the end of the work, local and imported trees and shrubs were planted in different areas, the first buildings were erected, and Sofiyivka was decorated with sculptures, mostly antique.

The location is famous for its many romantic corners: from cozy gazebos and grottoes to fountains and the Love Island.

Swan Lake, Kamianets-Podilskyi

Located on the edge of the Smotrych River Canyon. The romantic park was founded around 1,300.

Once upon a time, a small bridge called Bulvarnyi or Bankivskyi crossed the stream. Today, there is a small lake with white swans on the right, and on the left, there is a pond with a pair of black beauties.

The Lovers' Alley can also be found here. By the way, the path was paved with cobblestones with the ornament of a Ukrainian wedding towel.

Be sure to visit the Kamianets-Podilskyi fortress. The building was erected around the 16th century. It looks like a castle and seems to take tourists back to the time of knights and beautiful ladies. Nowadays, the monument is one of the 7 Wonders of Ukraine.

Schönborn Castle, Carpathians

Located in Mukachevo district of Zakarpattia region. The building once served as the residence and hunting lodge of the Schönborn counts, the largest landowners in Transcarpathia. Today it is a sanatorium.

The building was built in 1890-1895 in the Neo-Romantic style. Around it, a garden arboretum with a decorative lake was set up.

We advise you to take a tour of the fireplace room, the library, and take a walk around its grounds.

The palace and park will also be an ideal place for a romantic photo shoot.

Now it's up to you: whether it will be lively cities with cozy cafes and historical monuments or quiet natural corners where harmony and tranquility reign.
