The best cities in Ukraine for New Year's holidays

Do you want to change the traditional home atmosphere to something new? Then get ready to choose, because there are plenty of options: from mountain resorts to seaside locations, from historical centers to modern metropolitan areas. Today, we're going to tell you about the unique New Year's traditions of different regions, festive locations, and interesting events.

Lviv

Lviv is a national and cultural center with the largest number of architectural monuments in Ukraine.

We recommend starting your trip with the Christmas market on Svobody Avenue. Here you can buy a variety of souvenirs, toys, jewelry, handicrafts, candles, honey, etc. You can also taste traditional donuts and dumplings.

Next, take a walk to the city's main Christmas tree in front of the Opera House. This year, it is decorated with bright light illumination and an anti-tank "hedgehog" on top. By the way, this is where Lviv residents celebrate the New Year.

We also recommend going to Rynok Square, where there is a skating rink, shops, and atmospheric establishments, including a coffee mine and a chocolate workshop.

If you are planning a trip for several days, then go down to the dungeon of the Jesuit Fathers' Church, visit the Renaissance Italian Courtyard, and feel like a count or countess in the Potocki Palace.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Kamianets-Podilskyi is located in the Khmelnytskyi region. The city was considered one of the main centers of the historical region of Podillia.

Start your trip from the local fortress. In the 16th century, it served as an important defense structure in Eastern Europe. It is said that it was originally built of wood, and after numerous fires, it was rebuilt of stone. To this day, 11 towers have been preserved here. The area of the Old Castle reaches more than 1.5 hectares.

Tourists can also go on a New Year's Eve theatrical tour of the Orlovskyi's palace and dungeons. The building was founded in 1788 in the classicist style.

The bells of 2025 can be found near the House of the Polish Magistrate, now the ensemble of the town hall. The clock in the tower was created by Lviv foundry worker Teodor Polianskyi.

Kyiv

Where would you celebrate the New Year without the capital? Traditionally, one of the main New Year's locations in the city is Sophia Square, where the green beauty is placed.

For those who enjoy active entertainment, we recommend visiting the "Space Rink" near the Respublika Park shopping center and seeing a mirrored Christmas tree that reflects the light of garlands and creates a constellation effect. The attraction has an area of over 1800 square meters.

We also recommend going to the "Winter Country" at VDNKh with a large ice rink, a Christmas fair, an amusement park, and a Ferris wheel. There you can meet famous snowmen, including Goody Two-Shoes, Smarty-Pants, Sweet Tooth, and Frolicsome.

Mukachevo

It is located in the Transcarpathian region. Celebrating the New Year in the city can be perfectly combined with health improvement.

We recommend visiting the local water park. It has water slides, a jacuzzi, a salt room, a sauna, and indoor and outdoor thermal pools. Healing waters have a positive effect on strengthening the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.

Also, visit the Palanok Castle. The building was first mentioned in documents of the XI century. Tourists can visit the historical museum, which houses more than 8 thousand exhibits.

Odesa

For those who enjoy seaside vacations, we recommend celebrating the New Year on the Black Sea coast.

Most hotels organize entertainment programs and invite musicians and artists. However, we recommend choosing accommodation with access to a shelter.

On the eve of the holidays, you can watch themed performances in local theaters: "The Snow Queen" or "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

We also recommend going to the main Christmas tree on Derybasivska Street. By the way, this year it is powered by a generator.

For those who like active entertainment, we recommend ice skating at the Palace of Sports.

The New Year is a great opportunity to discover new places and get to know the uniqueness of our country. Visit Ukrainian cities and you won't regret it!
