When will Microsoft end support for Windows 10: exact date
Windows 10, one of the most popular operating systems in the world, is approaching the end of its life cycle. Despite its high market share, Microsoft has officially announced that it will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.
According to Tom's Hardware, after this date, security updates and bug fixes will no longer be provided, increasing the risk of cyber threats for users who continue to use it.
After support ends, new Windows 10 vulnerabilities will remain unpatched, increasing the risk of malicious attacks. Over time, even programs and drivers may stop working with this OS, which will affect performance and compatibility with modern hardware.
Alternatives for users
Users can upgrade to Windows 11 for free, provided their devices meet the technical requirements. If your PC doesn't support the new OS, you can purchase a new device with Windows 11 preinstalled to ensure you have access to the latest features and updates.
Extended support
For businesses and enterprise users, Microsoft will offer paid extended support for Windows 10 until October 2028. However, prices and terms for individual users have not yet been announced.
Alternative operating systems
Users who do not want to upgrade to Windows 11 can choose other operating systems. Linux is free and works even on old devices, although it requires some training. macOS is a stable option but requires significant costs.
