The main thing about a Christmas tree is the joy it brings

The winter holiday season will begin on December 6 with St. Nicholas Day. And most of us are gradually thinking about when to put up and decorate the Christmas tree.

OBOZ.UA inquired about the dates when it is customary to do this. And also where not to put the main symbol of the holiday season.

When to put up a Christmas tree?

If you prefer a live tree, you should buy it no more than two weeks before the New Year. This way, the tree won't have time to crumble and will look gorgeous during the celebration. So the ideal time to buy a plant is the weekend of December 16-17.

A good option is to set up the holiday symbol on December 5, so that you can officially start the holiday season in full readiness on St. Nicholas Day. But in this case, it is better to choose an artificial tree.

Those who are not in a hurry can choose the winter solstice as the date of the Christmas tree installation. This year it falls on December 22. This day has long been considered special, so you can use it as an opportunity to create a festive atmosphere in your home.

If you are celebrating Christmas with your family, psychologists advise that you set up and decorate the Christmas tree together the day before, i.e. on December 24. This will bring all the participants of the event closer together and give a sense of wonder. Decorating a Christmas tree on December 31 will work the same way.

However, there is no clear date when you need to decorate the tree. Do it whenever your heart desires. Creating a Christmas atmosphere can cheer you up and give you good emotions whenever you decide to do it. And in any case, it will be not only pleasant but also useful. Emotions of joy are always good for mental health.

Where it is better not to put a Christmas tree

Designers and safety experts have given some tips on where it is better not to place a festive tree. First of all, it should be kept away from heat sources and open flames. Especially if you choose a natural Christmas tree. Wood is a flammable material, and because of this, the celebration can quickly turn into a disaster. And an artificial Christmas tree can start to melt and release toxic substances due to excessive heat.

Do not place it near a window. This will block the symbol of the holiday from daylight, which is bad for everyone living in the house. The absence of sunlight is depressing and can seriously ruin your mood.

Also, try not to block passages with a tree. Therefore, analyze how you move around your apartment or house and choose a place for the Christmas tree based on this data. It also has no place near the entrances, as someone can easily knock the tree down by simply opening the door.

And, of course, you should consider the habits of your pets. You shouldn't put the tree where it will be knocked over by a cat jumping from shelf to shelf, or in a place where a dog likes to sleep.

Good places to put a Christmas tree

The ideal choice is a well-lit corner of the room. This way, the tree will always be in sight, and daylight will highlight it beautifully. At night, of course, garlands will do the trick. And this way it will not be in a busy place.

By the way, it is better to choose a room where all family members are present. The living room, dining room, or hall, if it is spacious enough, are good options.

A small tree can be installed on some kind of elevation - a chest of drawers or a cabinet. But before that, make sure that the piece of furniture is well installed - not tilted or wobbly.
