History and traditions

It was customary to hold a matchmaking ceremony on Trinity Day as it was said that brides betrothed on Green Holidays would have a long and happy marriage.

The weather was used to predict the future harvest: if the sun came out after the rain, the crops would yield abundantly.

Rainy weather indicated a warm and fine summer.

Heat on Trinity Day meant that the whole summer would be dry.

It was forbidden to arrange weddings on Trinity Day. It was also forbidden to do household chores, needlework, chop wood, or work on a farm.
