What to do if your iCloud notes go missing: Apple's guide
iCloud is a data storage and service cloud from Apple. Recently, there have been many reports online that some iPhone users have temporarily lost all their notes in the Notes app after accepting Apple's updated iCloud terms and conditions.
Apple indirectly acknowledged this problem in a new support document. Experts told what to do if you lost your notes.
Apple has released an official document detailing the steps to take if your iCloud notes don't appear on your Phone, iPad, or Vision Pro.
Fortunately, you can re-sync your notes to iCloud.
If your iCloud notes aren't showing up on your gadgets, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app and tap your name.
- Tap iCloud, then tap Notes.
- Make sure Sync this [device] is turned on, then check the Notes app.
- If you still don't see your notes, restart your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro.
- After restarting, check your settings again.
Experts say that after that, iCloud notes should recover and start syncing again on devices where you're signed in with the same Apple account. After the synchronization is complete, the content previously synchronized with iCloud should appear.
As a reminder, in September, Apple updated its iCloud terms of service with some minor changes, and in recent weeks has been notifying users of their acceptance.
The disappearance of notes was not the only problem.
In another new support document, Apple noted that iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro users who receive an error message "Action Unable to Complete" when trying to accept the updated iCloud terms of service should update iOS, iPadOS, or visionOS to the latest version and try again.
