SUVs are not cheap as these are all-wheel drive all-terrain vehicles. Experts predict that prices for some models will drop significantly in 2025.
GoBankingRates has published a list of cars that may become more affordable next year. The rating includes reliable, high-quality and functional models.
Brian Moody, executive editor of Autotrader, noted that buyers will be able to purchase a brand new car at a discount. This may be due to the overcrowded market.
"That is one of the top selling vehicles segments each year — and automakers keep adding more models," Moody commented.
According to Kelley Blue Book, in October 2024, the average transaction price of a new compact SUV was $36,739. This is almost 30% less than the industry average. Thus, sometimes it is more profitable to buy a small SUV than other models.
There are four SUV models that, according to Lauren Fix, founder of Car Coach Reports, may become significantly cheaper early next year.
Ford Mustang Mach-E
- Base price: $39,995.
The Mustang electric SUV did not sell at the level Ford had hoped for. Fix emphasized that Ford will reduce the price of this SUV to bring out the bulk of its range.
"Ford has already cut prices on this model earlier this year and wants to make it even more affordable," she added.
Volvo XC90
- Base price: $57,400.
It is worth paying attention to the luxury SUV, the Volvo XC90, as it has seen a significant price drop this month. This three-row SUV is a reliable and safe option that will demonstrate a high level of reliability and a decent price-quality ratio.
Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
- Base price: $60,490.
The reason for the price reduction for the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the very low level of sales. This car will be a smart purchase if you need an electrical SUV.
Ford Escape
- Base price: $28,150
It is already one of the most affordable SUVs, but it can get even cheaper.
"The Ford Escape has been facing strong competition in the compact SUV market, as there are many options. An incentive to purchase will help offer better pricing," Fix commented.
Ultimately, only time will tell which SUVs will fall in price in 2025, but it is worth paying attention to these four options.
