What holidays are celebrated on October 22
October 22, according to the New Julian calendar, is the day of remembrance of St. Averky. Averky lived in the second century and was a bishop in the city of Hierapolis (Asia Minor). He prayed every day for the conversion of pagans to the Christian faith. Once, during one of these prayers, an angel told Averky to go and smash all the idols. For this the pagans of the city hated him. At a public meeting, they tried to capture Averky, but suddenly the crowd heard the cries of three possessed young men. The bishop drove out all the demons from them through prayer, and after that people turned to the Christian God. According to legend, the saint died at the age of 193.
October 22 is the International Stuttering Awareness Day. King George VI of Great Britain suffered from stuttering and was one of the first to officially recognize the importance of speech therapy. The International Stuttering Awareness Day was initiated by speech pathology researchers from Canada.
International Caps Lock Day was established in 2000 on the initiative of Derek Arnold from Iowa, USA. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to those who use the Caps Lock typing style.
