What holidays are celebrated on September 27

September 27, according to the New Julian calendar, is the day of remembrance of the martyr Calistratus and his wife. Calistratus was born and lived in Carthage, and his grandfather, according to legend, even witnessed the suffering of Jesus Christ. The young man grew up in the Christian faith, but these were the times of persecution and persecution of Christ's followers. One day, while serving in the army, a soldier heard Calistratus reading a Christian prayer and reported it to the military commander. Calistratus was forced to sacrifice to idols, but he refused. Calistratus was tortured in prison, but no amount of torture could make him renounce his faith. Later, a church was built at the place of suffering of Calistratus and his wife.

On September 27, Ukraine and the world celebrate Tourism Day. September events in the third decade of the month are traditional and annual.

The European Night of Scientists is an event organized by the European Commission that takes place annually on the last Friday of September. During the event, scientific achievements are presented. The goal is to popularize research and innovation initiatives.
