According to the presidential decree of September 9, 2023, the Day of Tank Troops is celebrated annually on September 14. The holiday was established in support of the initiative of tank troops veterans, taking into account the combat merits of tankers and to educate tank soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the best traditions of previous generations. Previously, Tanker Day was celebrated on the second Sunday of September.

According to the New Julian calendar, September 14 is the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross. This is one of the most important holidays in the Eastern Christian tradition. According to legend, in the fourth century in Jerusalem, Helen, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, found the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. Helen organized excavations that led to the discovery of the cave of the Holy Sepulcher and three crosses nearby. This is how it became known where Jesus was crucified. According to legend, the cross had healing powers - when a sick woman touched it, she was immediately cured.

Every year on September 14, the IgNobel Prize is awarded, a parody of the prestigious international award. The first award was inspired by the humor magazine Annals of Incredible Research. The humorous prize is awarded to 10 people for achievements that make you laugh and then think. The award is given for unusual and witty research to attract attention and increase people's interest in science, medicine, and technology. And the original wording sounded quite interesting: "for achievements that cannot be replicated - or there is no point in doing so."
