November 11 is the Day of Liberation of Kherson from Russian fascist invaders in Ukraine. The liberation was the result of Ukraine's southern counteroffensive in 2022. On this day, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the holy martyrs Mina, Victor and Vincent, and St. Theodore Studite. Name days are celebrated by Victor, Theodore, Stepan, and Martin.

On November 11, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine recaptured the city of Kherson and other districts of the Kherson region and part of the Mykolaiv region on the right bank of the Dnipro River. Following the invasion of Ukraine, Russian troops surrounded Kherson and occupied it in early March 2022 after heavy fighting the day before.

In September 2022, Russia announced the annexation of the region along with three others, and on November 9, the aggressor country announced the forced withdrawal of troops from Kherson and the northern bank of the Dnipro.

November 11, according to the New Julian calendar, is the day of remembrance of the Great Martyr Mina. He lived during the persecution of the church under the reigns of Diocletian and Maximian. He renounced his ministry and left the city, refusing to worship idols. Mina spent a lot of time in the desert, where he led an ascetic life. Once he came to a city where a pagan festival was taking place and spoke out against idolatry. Mina was captured and severely tortured, but he did not betray his faith. He died as a martyr in 296.

November 11 is also the day of remembrance of Theodore the Studite. He was born in 759 in Constantinople in the family of a court servant. He received a good education and became known for his oratory skills. In his sermons, Theodore defended Christianity and opposed the policies of Emperor Constantine V. In 782, he took up monasticism at the monastery of Saccudion. He was imprisoned three times and died as a martyr in 826 in the monastery of St. Tryphon in Bithynia.
