On December 29, Orthodox believers honor Joseph the Betrothed. He is a central figure in the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. According to the biblical stories, he was the husband of the Virgin Mary and the earthly tutor of Jesus. Joseph is described in the Gospels as a righteous and pious man. He came from the lineage of King David and was betrothed to the Virgin Mary.

After Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit, Joseph, although surprised by this miracle, decided not to divorce her but to take her under his protection and become the guardian of the unborn child. Joseph is a symbol of faith and obedience to God's will. Despite the difficult circumstances, he remained faithful and loving to his family.

St. Job of Manyavsk (c. 1550 - December 30, 1621) is also honored as a prominent church and public figure, founder of the Manyavsk Skete, one of the largest spiritual centers in Ukraine. His life and work became an example of deep faith and service to the people.

The Monks Mark, Theophilus, and John of the Caves are also remembered as prominent figures in the history of Kyivan Rus and Ukrainian Orthodoxy. They were the first monks of the Kyiv Cave Monastery to choose the path of asceticism and selfless service to God.
