The year 2024 was a landmark year for the electric car market. Some of the biggest brands in the industry released new models: Lotus Emeya, MG Cyberster, Cupra Born VZ, and the new Mini Cooper, among others. The cheapest electric car of the year was the Dacia Spring, but experts say that affordability does not affect high quality.

Electric batteries are becoming increasingly popular in the EU. Autocar has published a list of electric cars that will soon enter the market.

Aiways U5

The Aiways U5 is a powerful, if not perfect, family SUV from China that has been on sale in continental Europe since 2020. It will soon go on sale in the UK, and will compete with the Skoda Enyaq in terms of price.

Citroën ë-C3

The electric version of the new C3 is one of the most anticipated cars to come out next year. The fact is that it will be one of the cheapest and most affordable electric cars on sale. The car will have a 44 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery that provides an official range of 481 km with the ability to charge at a speed of up to 100 kW.

Fiat Topolino

Few cars are as bold an expression of brand identity as the Topolino. It's a Citroën Ami redesigned in line with Fiat's "dolce vita" mindset, with retro styling and one color: mint green.

Ford E-Transit Custom

This is the electric version of the UK's most popular commercial vehicle. In combination with the next generation Volkswagen Transporter, the new E-Transit Custom van will be available with rear-mounted engines with 134 and 215 hp, both with 404 Nm of torque. Its payload will be just over a ton.

Kia EV3

Kia's drive to offer more affordable electric vehicles began with the EV3, which was unveiled back in May. The car is based on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform and will offer several powertrains with a range of up to 429 km or 598 km on long-range models.

Maserati Granturismo Folgore

Three 402 hp engines provide the car with a total output of 751 hp and 1350 Nm, which is limited only by the battery's inability to cope with such a flow of energy. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes just 2.7 seconds, and the top speed is 481 km/h.

Maserati Grecale Folgore

As one of the six electric vehicles that Maserati will launch by 2025, the Grecale will be an important factor in the development of the legendary Italian brand's future. The SUV will have more than 500 horsepower and will accelerate to 100 km per hour in 4.5 seconds.

Polestar

Polestar's most environmentally friendly car is also the strangest: the manufacturer has abandoned the conventional rear window in favor of a roof-mounted camera. This allowed Polestar to change the position of the rails, providing a sharper roofline - and thus a greater range.

Range Rover Electric

The Range Rover will finally get an electric powertrain, and the manufacturers promise that it will be the most advanced Range Rover to date, delivering performance on par with the V8 flagship. Even its off-road performance remains unchanged, as it is able to wade through water 850 mm deep.
