What car to buy in 2025: 5 best options
If you're dreaming of buying a new car in the new year, now is the time to make sure you choose the right model. After all, you hardly want to pay more for a less than successful purchase.
To make it easier for you to choose, The Car Connection has assessed nearly 300 cars for the 2025 model year and selected the five best new models. Experts chose only those models that have undergone significant improvements, taking affordability into account. Here are the best options they found.
Chevrolet Blazer EV
The electric car doesn't have much in common with its gasoline twin. The Blazer EV midsize crossover is in the middle of GM's rapidly expanding electric car lineup. The model is offered with front and rear-wheel drive and a range of about 540 km with an exclusive 102 kWh battery. Camaro styling with spacious crossover proportions promises great convenience.
Chevrolet Equinox EV
Another electric SUV from Chevrolet made it into the ranking. Right now, the Equinox EV is one of the most affordable electric cars on the market. Its range is approximately 510 km and the battery capacity is 85.0 kWh. Chevrolet offers it in a 220 hp single-engine model with front-wheel drive or a 300 hp two-engine model with all-wheel drive. The compact crossover is an efficient, attractive, well-equipped, and a relatively favorable offer not only in the electric vehicle segment but also in the crossover market in general.
Honda Prologue
This model looks like the Blazer EV for a reason. They are indeed built on the same base. However, Honda leaves its mark on the Prologue with a user interface that includes Apple CarPlay. The model charges a little slower with DC than the Blazer EV, reaching 80% charge in 35 minutes instead of 30 minutes. It also offers a calmer and smoother design, with tests indicating better handling on the road.
Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid
Hyundai has redesigned the Santa Fe midsize crossover for the 2025 model year and brought back a third row of seats. It is bigger, wider, more spacious and much more stylish than previous generations. The most significant addition to the 2025 lineup is a hybrid model with a combined consumption of 6.72 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Combine this efficiency with a large 67-liter tank and you can drive about 950 km between refueling. Hyundai merges a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor between a 6-speed automatic transmission for smooth power output of up to 231 hp. Add to that thoughtful storage compartments and a wide range of standard safety and convenience features and you will have a smart family car.
Subaru Forester
Subaru is considered the most reliable car brand, according to the latest annual results of Consumer Reports. One of the reasons for its reliability is a conservative approach to modernization, as evidenced by the updated Forester 2025. The sixth-generation compact SUV crossover is similar to its predecessor and is equipped with an improved 180-horsepower 2.5-liter opposed 4-cylinder engine. The chassis has become stiffer and the driving is now quieter. Improvements in its driver assistance system and convenience features may be the most noticeable changes for most buyers.
