"We want to go home": astronauts stranded on the ISS appeal to NASA
The American astronauts stuck in space have appealed to NASA. Barry Wilmore, 62, and Sunita Williams, 59, said they "want to come home."
The space veterans hinted at their desires during a video call with NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy. However, Wilmore and Williams debunked rumors of a lack of clothing or other resources aboard the International Space Station (ISS), DailyMail reports.
Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore say they want to go home, but still have work to do on the ISS.

As a reminder, Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams landed on the ISS on June 6, 2024, and their mission was supposed to last only eight days. However, due to a malfunction, the Boeing Starliner spacecraft was unable to deliver them to Earth on time, and the astronauts have been stuck in space for 8 months.

Their return home was originally scheduled for February 2025. However, NASA has announced that it is moving the end of the mission to the spring.
"Yes, we will want to go home because we left our families. But we still have a lot of things to do on the ISS. And we have to do all these things before we leave here," Sunita Williams said.
The veteran astronauts are expected to return home in early April with the rest of Crew 9, which is the ninth rotation of the current Expedition 72 members.
It is known that during their stay on the ISS, Sunita Williams became the expedition commander and Barry Wilmore became the flight engineer.

Recall that when the astronauts arrived in space, they lacked basic items for a long expedition, as they were expecting a week-long trip. However, Wilmore and Williams didn't seem to be worried about their conditions and debunked the rumors about the lack of clothing.
"We wore the clothes we arrived in for a while. But it didn't bother us. It's not like on Earth, where you sweat. On the ISS, you can wear things, frankly, for weeks, and it doesn't bother you at all," Wilmore admitted.

"We had a great team of astronauts with us, so we didn't feel abandoned. We have had many scientific experiments and space walks ahead. And it's a pleasure to work here, especially with our colleagues at the other end of the space station," Sunita Williams emphasized.
