"We hope he will come back": Shakhtar reacted to Rosputko's escape after the match with Antwerp
Shakhtar Donetsk has confirmed the disappearance of its youth team player Oleksandr Rosputko after a UEFA League match with Belgian Antwerp. They noted that the 19-year-old did not show up for boarding at the airport from where the team was returning home.
Shakhtar made this statement in response to a request from UA-Football. The Donetsk club expressed hope that Rosputko would return to the team after being asked to do so within five days. Eight days have passed since the game in Antwerp.
"We confirm the fact that Oleksandr Rosputko did not return to Ukraine after the match with Antwerp. The player received a boarding pass, handed over his suitcase and did not show up for boarding the plane. We cannot say in which direction the player disappeared. We have no information. The club hopes that the player will return shortly. We have sent him an official letter demanding that he return to the team's location within five days. If he does not return, the contract will be terminated through the player's fault," Shakhtar emphasized.
Interestingly, it was on the eve of the match against Antwerp that Oleksandr agreed to sign a new five-year contract with the Donetsk club. He played the full 90 minutes in the game in Belgium. Rosputko disappeared after the match, and all that Shakhtar's team could find was the player's neatly folded uniform at the airport. According to the Brutal Football Telegram channel, the junior fled to Russia.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Shakhtar did not allow its players to join the U-19 national team of Ukraine for the Seoul Cup tournament, which takes place from October 10 to 15. Goalkeeper Vladyslav Kravets, defenders Mykola Oharkov, Anton Drozd, midfielder Yevhen Yanovych, and forward Anton Demchenko did not travel to South Korea with the national team.
