"Very sad": Russian ex-world champion criticizes Fury for fight with Ngannou

Butaev criticized Fury

Former welterweight world champion Rajab Butayev (14-1-0-1, 11 KOs) criticized British boxer Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) for his fight against Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs). The 29-year-old Russian accused the Gypsy King of simply not preparing for the fight and disgracing boxing.

Butayev said this in a commentary to the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The 2004 Russian champion added that Fury had convinced fans and experts that a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter with no boxing experience could beat a professional world champion.

"It was very sad. It was hard to watch. It's a shame for boxing. It is clear that Fury did not prepare for this fight. And others think that an MMA fighter came out and beat the best boxer in the world. It's a shame because of that. We understand that with the same preparation Fury had for Wilder, Tyson would have dealt with Ngannou in one round. That's my opinion," Butaev said.

We would like to remind you that the Gypsy King defeated Ngannou by a split decision. The Cameroonian knocked Tyson down in the third round, the seventh time in his career that the Briton has been knocked down. The Briton has already agreed to a rematch with the Cameroonian.

Fury will have his next fight with Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), which was scheduled for December 23 but was postponed. The media announced a new date for the fight and claimed that the British boxer was facing a $240 million lawsuit if he refused to fight the Ukrainian on December 23.

A video of Oleksandr's reaction to the knockdown that Tyson suffered in the third round of his fight with Ngannou has also been posted online.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Oleksandr Usyk did not disclose his tactical plan for the fight with Tyson Fury. In addition, it became known that the Ukrainian is being set up for a fight against the Briton. Also, bookmakers have dramatically changed their quotes for the confrontation.
