However, a ranking of the world's most popular tourist cities has finally appeared, based not on the number of tourists but on social media posts, according to a Timeout article.

When it came to compiling the ranking, Titan Travel paid attention to the number of TikTok views and Instagram posts, as well as the number of changes in Google search traffic over the past three years.

At the same time, critics of Titan Travel's scoring system point out that this method of counting is not reliable in measuring the popularity of tourist cities. Moreover, representations of destinations on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok are often not accurate or realistic.

At the same time, the ranking provides an interesting insight into which destinations people are most closely following on social media.

It was expected that London was the leader of the ranking. The city proved to be extremely popular on social media, with more than 70 billion views on TikTok and over 107 million posts on Instagram.

Paris took the second place in the study, having collected more than 60 billion views on TikTok and 137 million tags on Instagram.

Barcelona came in third, with a 336 percent increase in Google searches over the past three years.
