Ukrainian teenager from an orphanage near Kherson, taken to Russia, commits suicide in a foster home
18-year-old Oleksandr Yakushchenko, who was taken from Ukraine to Russia, committed suicide in a foster home in Krasnodar Krai. The teenager was found hanging a few kilometers from the house where he lived.
This information was reported in the Russian media. Before the full-scale invasion, the boy lived in an orphanage near Kherson.
"The head of the foster family, Alexander Lukashenko, said that Yakushchenko hanged himself a few kilometers from his new home – his body was found by workers who were leaving for their shift in the morning," the report said.
The foster father does not know the reasons for the teenager's suicide, even though he had lived with his new family for almost a year.
"How do I know why? He was 18 years old, he was an adult child. He was just living with us," the head of the family said.
Before his death, Oleksandr Yakushchenko's friends received a voice message from him, in which he spoke about his difficult relationship with his new family. The teenager emphasized that no one needed him there, and he was made to understand this.
"I'm ruining everyone's life. I can't do it, I'll hang myself... If I wasn't there, no one would have any f**king problems, if only I hadn't come here," the boy said.
It is known that until the fall of 2022, Sasha Yakushchenko and seven other children lived in a family-type orphanage in the village of Tokarivka near Kherson.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the terrorist country Russia could deport up to 700 thousand Ukrainian children since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It was quite difficult for orphans to stay in their homeland.
Forced deportation, which is an international crime, is presented by Russian propaganda as "charity, humanitarian aid and rescue of victims." This allows Russia to manipulate its status as a UN member state, "peacekeeper" and "savior." In this way, it misleads the international community.
According to official data from the Russian Defense Ministry, 300,000 children have been deported from Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainian human rights activists not only confirm this data but also note that the number of deportees may reach 700,000.
