Ukrainian national team continues preparations for the start of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers
On February 17, in Riga, the men's national team of Ukraine began preparations for the first game window of the EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers, during which it will play against Slovenia (February 22) and Portugal (February 25). The national team, led by Vitalii Stepanovskyi, held its first two-hour training session.
Unfortunately, due to injuries, forward Volodymyr Koniev (Dnipro) and centers Kostiantyn Anikiienko (FOXHANI, Romania) and Dmytro Skapintsev (Westchester Knicks, USA) will not help the national team in the upcoming matches.
Due to the long trip and difficult acclimatization process, the coaching staff will not use center Volodymyr Herun, who is playing in the Japanese championship, during the game window.
Instead, 20-year-old center Bohdan Bryniuk, who has experience playing for the Ukrainian youth national teams, received his debut call-up to the national team. Bryniuk joined the national team in Riga. The possibility of inviting Desmond Yama (Bayern Munich, Germany) to the national team was considered. The player is currently at the training camp of the U-18 national team in Spain. Priority was given to training the big man together with the youth national team, which will play four control matches.
On February 18, defender Anatolii Shundel joined the Ukrainian national team. The training process continued on Sunday, with the Ukrainian national team holding two training sessions.
