Ukraine's goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan played his first official match for Al Shabab, but his debut in the Saudi Arabian league can't be called successful - the team lost to Al-Ittifaq with a score of 1-3.

Georginio Wijnaldum managed to bypass the 30-year-old from Odesa twice, while the third goal was scored by João Costa. Interestingly, Wijnaldum has already passed the Ukrainian goalkeeper's defense - in the Euro 2020 match against the Netherlands in June 2021.

During the game, Bushchan actively expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of his teammates. After the second conceded goal, our compatriot literally "flew off the handle", messing up the defense. This behavior was typical for him when he was in Dynamo as well.

After 17 rounds, Al-Shabab is sixth in the league with 29 points. The head coach is Fatih Terim.

As reported, on January 29, Heorhiy signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al-Shabab.

During his career, Bushchan has won the Ukrainian league (2020/21), the Ukrainian Cup twice and the Super Cup three times. He is also remembered for his outstanding performances in European competitions, including a penalty saved in the match against Fenerbahce in 2022.
