Ukraine becomes European U-20 basketball vice-champion in Division B
The Ukrainian men's basketball team lost to Romania in the final of the U-20 European Championship in Division B. The match in Pitesti ended with a score of 80:58.
From the very first minutes, the stands began to put pressure on our guys, which was the first time they encountered at this European Championship. Under such pressure, the Ukrainians took a long time to get into the game - our players managed to score the first points in the 4th minute, having lost 0:8 by that time.
However, having calmed down, the Ukrainian team leveled the game and twice reduced its deficit to one point. The key moment in the first half was the middle of the second quarter, when Romania made three consecutive accurate three-pointers "in your face" and scored five long-range shots in a few minutes, increasing the score from 20:18 to 37:22. This allowed the hosts to go into the big break with a +13 - 43:30 lead.
The third ten minutes was particularly difficult, as the Yellow and Blues lost by 8 points (13:21).
In the second half of the game, the Ukrainians failed to seize the initiative, as the Romanians increased their lead to 20 points and calmly brought the game to victory.
Pavlo Karasev with 11 points and Daniil Sipalo with 10 points and 8 rebounds were the most productive players for Ukraine.
