On the morning of December 21, drones targeted the city of Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia). The Russians claim that one of the UAVs allegedly hit the Azure Skies (Lazurnye Nebesa) residential complex.

A fire broke out at the scene. This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.

Russian propagandists claim that the fire in the Azure Skies residential tower in Kazan started around 8:00 am, allegedly due to a UAV hit. Residents of the damaged high-rise are being evacuated, and traffic around the buiding is blocked.

Later, the propagandists claimed that a drone had also allegedly hit the Manhattan residential complex. According to the Russian media, the UAV hit the top of the high-rise building.

Netizens reported that explosions also occurred in a five-story building in Kazan. Propagandists claim that this is due to a drone attack. A fire continues to burn at the scene.

Local authorities said that the drone attack caused a fire in buildings in the Sovetsky and Kirovsky districts of Kazan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin said that the evacuated residents would be temporarily accommodated in other buildings.

In addition, officials complained that the entire New Year's program in Kazan was canceled due to the drone attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it had prevented the "Kyiv regime's attempt to carry out a terrorist attack against targets in Russia using UAVs." According to the terrorist agency, the Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The local authorities do not provide information about the dead or injured. At the same time, officials are urging residents of Kazan to go down to their basements and wait out the drone attack.

According to local officials, a total of 8 hits were recorded, including one at an industrial enterprise, one over the river, and 6 at a residential area. Employees at the industrial enterprises are reported to have been evacuated and are in shelters.

According to preliminary data, the Kazan gunpowder plant was under attack too. The enterprise manufactures gunpowder for small arms, close combat systems, munition for grenade launchers and ammunition for land, air and naval artillery.

As a reminder, Russia complained about an air attack on December 21. In the Sochi region of the Krasnodar Territory, local residents heard up to a dozen powerful explosions, which "caused the windows to shake and the car alarms to go off."
