Two brain hemorrhages. Emilia Clarke reveals her biggest fear while filming Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke talks about her biggest fear while filming Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke, a British actress known for the films See You Later, Star Wars, and Merry Christmas, admitted that she was most afraid of being fired from the hit TV series Game of Thrones at the beginning of the first seasons and her career in general. In 2011 and 2013, the actress suffered two brain hemorrhages, which left her very different.

As far as we know, the series was released in 2011, so Emilia Clarke has already played the role of Daenerys Targaryen. According to the Daily Mail, the first hemorrhage occurred after the end of the first season of Game of Thrones. Then the actress lost the ability to speak and almost fell into a coma.

The second such case ended in surgery. Earlier, Clarke said that she was among the "small minority" of people who survived and remained "unaffected."

"When you have a brain injury, it changes your well-being on such a dramatic level that all the insecurities you feel in the workplace quadruple overnight. The first fear I had was: "Oh my God, am I going to get fired? Am I going to get fired because they think I'm not capable of doing the job?" the actress explained in an interview with Big Issue.

Emilia Clarke suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage after an aneurysm burst in her brain. This problem mostly occurs in people over the age of 45 and is accompanied by severe fatigue, sleep problems, impaired vision, and mobility. The 24-year-old actress was spared such symptoms at the time, so she was able to finish all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones.

"To be honest, it all made me feel ashamed like I was broken. Like the producers thought I was an unreliable person to hire. I don't have much of a brain physically. If you look at a scan of my brain, you'll see that there are a lot of black parts, and that's where it's dead," she told Harper's Bazaar.

To improve the rehabilitation of people after brain hemorrhages, Emilia Clarke and her mother even founded the charity organization SameYou in 2019.
