Prosecutor's office sends to court the case of Maksym Goldarb

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has sent to court an indictment against the former politician and TV presenter of the banned Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne Maksym Goldarb. He is charged with two crimes: collaboration and justifying Russia's war against Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office. It is noted that the traitor faces up to 12 years in prison.

The prosecutor's office named two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine under which the defendant is accused:

ч. 6 of Art. 111-1 (conducting information activities aimed at supporting the aggressor state and avoiding responsibility for armed aggression against Ukraine)

Part 2, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (production and dissemination of materials justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in 2014).

According to the press service of the prosecutor's office, in his interviews, Goldarb deliberately and purposefully spread Russian narratives that Ukraine's European allies were actually using Ukrainians to settle scores with Russia and intended to seize and divide the lands of western Ukraine among themselves.

The suspect shifts the blame for the war in Ukraine unleashed by Russia onto the United States and the current Ukrainian government, denying and justifying Russia's armed aggression.

At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Maksym Goldarb fled Kyiv and publicly supported Russia's armed aggression.

The SBU collected evidence of his illegal activities.

Thus, it was proved that Goldarb published pro-Kremlin posts on his own Telegram and YouTube channels, in which he spread fakes about the activities of Ukraine's top military and political leadership and disinformation about the internal situation in our country.

In addition, he disseminated his own "insights" about the alleged "plans" of several European countries to seize territory in western Ukraine.

Goldarb also repeatedly participated in "teleconferences" with Russian propagandists who spread disinformation.

Maksym Goldarb was served with a notice of suspicion in October last year.

"The sanction of the article provides for 12 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to 15 years," the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the SBU has notified pioneer Maksym Goldarb of suspicion of collaboration and justification of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. Since the suspect is hiding from the investigation outside Ukraine, comprehensive measures are being taken to establish his whereabouts and bring him to justice for crimes against our country.
