Chyhyryn

The state mint and military administration were located here. Later, in 1678, the Turks completely destroyed the Cossack center.

Today, tourists can visit the ruins of the castle on Kamianna Hora. The fortress was built in the 16th century. It had a defensive function and served as a citadel.

Be sure to visit the museum, which is dedicated to the talented commander Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. More than 2,000 exhibits are kept here. In particular, weapons, household items, a field gun, armors, and others.

Also, head to the Holy Intercession Cathedral. It is located on the territory of a former cemetery where the remains of Cossack soldiers were reburied.

And in the historical and architectural complex, travelers will be able to see the artificially recreated buildings that were part of the hetman's residence.

Subotiv

It is located in the Cherkasy region on the right bank of the Tiasmyn River. The farm was owned by the centurion Mykhailo Khmelnytskyi, the father of the famous hetman. In 1620, the nobleman died, and his son built a residence here. Over time, it was destroyed by the Polish army.

Here we advise you to go to St. Elijah's Church, which became a tomb for the commander. By the way, you can see the attraction on a 5-hryvnia bill. Also, visit the castle where Bohdan's family estate once stood. The authentic remains of a 17th-century townhouse and hut have been preserved here. There is also a pottery museum on the territory of the complex.

Baturyn

It is located in the Chernihiv region. In 1669, the settlement became the capital of the Left Bank, and in 1676, it became the main city of the Hetmanate. At that time, Ivan Samoilovych was the ruler. Under Ivan Mazepa, a castle, a palace, churches, and residential and administrative buildings were built here.

Later, in 1708, a genocide took place here. Moscow troops entered Baturyn and burned it along with its inhabitants.

In 1750, they began to restore everything. Kyrylo Razumovskyi built the Resurrection Church, a brickyard, a tile factory, and more. Today you can see his palace and park.

Be sure to visit the citadel. On its territory, 11 objects of the Cossack era have been recreated. In particular, the castle tower, towers, a defensive wall, a well, and a treasury.

Hrechane

The ethnographic complex is considered a real gem of cultural heritage. Its peculiarity is a detailed model of a Cossack fortification. There are three authentic manors of the XIX century on the territory. In the first one, tourists can visit an inn and a museum of rural life. In the second one, you can stay overnight. By the way, the house used to belong to a local artist. And the third one, which used to be a potter's house, is undergoing reconstruction.

A unique collection of Cossack weapons is kept here: a falconette, a bombardment, pistols, and sabers.

Here you can also enjoy a traditional Cossack meal: kulish, varenyky, and uzvar.

Hlukhiv

It is located in Sivershchyna, Sumy region. The city was founded in the early seventeenth century. Over time, it became an important political and economic center of the Left Bank of Ukraine. Important state decisions were made here and congresses of Cossack officers were held, one of which elected Demian Mnohohrishnyi as Hetman.

Be sure to visit the oldest monument of the village - St. Nicholas Church. It used to be considered the main public building.

Also, go to the Cathedral Square. The last three military leaders of the country were elected on the square.

Keep in mind that due to the full-scale invasion, it is dangerous to be in the areas near the enemy border.
