Tim Burton's mystical series "Wednesday" became a Netflix record-breaker: what the new remake of the Adams family is about

The mystery and detective series  Wednesday became a hit just a week after its premiere and set a new record for the Netflix streaming platform. The remake of the cult "The Addams Family", directed by the talented Tim Burton, became the most popular English-language series of the week, surpassing the success of "Stranger Things".

The charisma of the main character, the gloomy eldest daughter of the Adams couple, Wendnesday, charmed moviegoers and brought the series to the top. Netflix announced the success of the project on Twitter.  441 million people in total, watched Wendnesday in a week (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).

The plot of the new story about an unusual family revolves around 15-year-old Wednesday, a troubled teenager who has changed many schools because she could not become part of society due to cruelty and a gloomy perception of the world.

The girl's parents, Matisha and Gomez, decided to send her to their former boarding school, Nevermore, where similar outcasts study - vampires, mermaids, werewolves, etc. Wednesday herself, played by young American actress Jenna Ortega, sees visions of the past or the future.

As soon as she gets to school, she is met with interesting riddles, new friends, the complexities of falling in love, monsters, and dangerous adventures. The heroine finds new allies and unexpectedly realizes that being a loner is not what she wants.

The series also touched on the complex story of a mother-daughter relationship, which will have to understand and accept each other. It's impossible not to mention the teenager's faithful "friend" - a hand named "Thing" that became the highlight of the film project and was loved by the fans.

IMDb rated the new adaptation at 8.5 out of 10, which is not surprising, as the series' TikTok viewers rushed to transform into the gloomy heroine, setting off a new trend.

The first season featured 8 episodes, which on average last about 50 minutes. There is currently no official information about the continuation of the story.
