Three things you should never say to a car mechanic

ObozrevatelNews

Experts urge motorists to never say a number of common phrases to mechanics to avoid the risk of being scammed.

AMD, a mechanic who runs the YouTube channel The Car Care Nut, has named three common things you should never say when repairing your beauty.

Saying you know nothing about cars

According to the expert, if you say this to a good mechanic, as they will take it as a huge responsibility. It also shows that you don't know anything about this business and that you just blindly trust them.

If an unscrupulous mechanic hears these words, they will definitely deceive you and take advantage of you.

AMD states that drivers should never admit that they have limited knowledge of cars, as this gives unethical mechanics a chance to make the customer think that more work needs to be done than is actually necessary.

Lying about the cause of the problem

The expert also recommends that drivers avoid lying to the mechanic about how a particular problem occurred, saying that this can make it more difficult and costly to fix the problem.

"This one is very important. Honesty should be met with honesty. If you want your mechanic to be honest with you and do you right, you should meet them the same way. Don't hide facts from your mechanic. It takes great courage for someone to admit they damaged their car," says AMD.

Asking for a tune-up

AMD recommends never asking a mechanic for a tune-up, saying that modern engines are capable of doing it automatically.

"If your mechanic is good and ethical, they will tell you that there is no such thing as a tune-up in modern cars, you only need this or that for maintenance. But if your mechanic is not a good one and, more importantly, not an ethical one, this will be a kind of open invitation to upsell you whatever they want under the umbrella of the tune-up," the expert said.
