The Faroese football club Claxwick became the first representative of the country to win in the main draw of continental tournaments. The day before, the islanders sensationally defeated Slovenian side Olimpija 3-0 in the third round of the Conference League.

"Claxwiick hosted the opponent at the Torsvollur Stadium, choosing to play on the counterattack. For the first half hour, the game was evenly matched, and then the hosts had a magnificent 25-minute stretch that decided the outcome of the match.

In the 30th minute, Claxvick midfielder Rene Joensen closed the canopy from the right flank with a beautiful free kick, outrunning the defender. And just before the break, Faroese forward Pall Klettskard, having beaten three opponents, sent the ball into the corner of the Slovenian goal.

Claxvick captain Jakup Andreasen put a spectacular end to the match. The midfielder headed home a corner kick to put the game out of reach.

Thus, for the first time in the history of European football, the team from the Faroe Islands won the main stage of a European Cup. Thanks to the triumph, Claxwick gained four points in Group A and is fighting for the Conference League playoffs.
