"They are starting to consider it the norm": the Olympic champion criticized Europeans who justify Russians

Oleksandr ChekanovNews

Olympic champion Jonna Sundling expressed dissatisfaction with the training of Russian skiers in Italy and the participation of Alexander Bolshunov in the Moonlight Classic marathon. According to the winner of the Beijing 2022 Games, as long as Russia continues its military aggression against Ukraine, there is no question of allowing its representatives to participate in international competitions.

Sundling said this in an interview with Afton Bladet. The Swedish skier emphasized that she is surprised by the attempts of many experts and fans to normalize the right of Russians to be part of a civilized European society, because they simply do not meet it.

"Yes, I saw one Russian skier, and it surprised me a bit. Of course, we haven't seen Russian skiers for a long time. I think it's strange that people are somehow starting to consider this the norm. This issue keeps coming up, even though the war is still going on. Nothing has changed. So yeah, I think it's a little bit strange that they're training and competing in Europe," Sundling said.

As a reminder, Bolshunov won the race against Seyzer Alma, which was his first international race in three years. After the race, Italian Lorenzo Buzin and Swede Malin Björjesjo appeared at the award ceremony with the flag of Ukraine. The Europeans' action caused a real stream of bile from the Russians.

Bolshunov, who is a three-time champion of Beijing 2022, was a participant in the Z-concert in Luzhniki.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Zhurova called the display of the Ukrainian flag at the Moonlight Classic ski marathon disrespectful to Russians.
