Thermal resorts of Ukraine: where to go in early winter
With the onset of the frosty season, we often look for an opportunity to escape to a place where it is warm, as well as pay more attention to health and immunity. Veliatyno
The health resort is located in the Khust district of the Zakarpattia region. It was built in 1990 on the site of a thermal spring near Mount Oleksynets.
The local well is about 1 kilometer deep and its waters are rich in iodine and bromine. The temperature ranges from 40°C to 60°C. For swimming, they are cooled to a comfortable 30°C and 36°C.
People with diseases of the musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems most often come here.
Here, tourists can relax in the eucalyptus and Finnish saunas and salt room, as well as undergo a therapeutic massage.
We also recommend visiting the ruins of Khust Castle. It existed from the XI to the XVIII century. It was built as a Hungarian royal fortress to protect the salt route from Solotvyno. It is said that the building belonged to the family of Count Dracula.
Berehove
A town in the Zakarpattia region. The thermal resort is located on the territory of the Zakarpattia sports base. The complex was opened in 1967.
The depth of the well reaches more than 1,080 meters. The healing waters are characterized by a high content of nitrogen, silicon, carbon dioxide, chloride and sodium. All these chemical elements are capable of destroying pathogens. Moreover, the springs are not filtered, so they retain all their natural properties.
Travelers can relax here at any time of the year. The temperature in the pool ranges from 33°C to 36°C. Keep in mind that doctors recommend taking baths for no longer than 2 hours a day to avoid the risk of fainting.
People with heart and vascular diseases, hypertension, as well as urological and musculoskeletal disorders most often come here. The health center is also a great option for those with nervous system disorders.
We also recommend visiting the Chizay Mala Hora restaurant. It is famous for its unique thermal wine. Its special taste is created thanks to a spring that feeds the vine at a depth of 9 meters.
Koson
A village in Berehove district of Zakarpattia region. It is home to the popular Kosyno health resort. Its waters are characterized by a high content of chloride, sodium and an average mineralization index. They also have a peculiar yellow-brown color.
Even when cooled, the temperature in the baths near the well ranges from 38°C to 40°C. And in the spring itself, it is 60°C to 80°C.
People come here to treat skin diseases, nervous system, and muscle and bone injuries.
An interesting fact: the complex has the longest bar in Ukraine, which is 27 meters long.
Here, travelers can visit different types of saunas, including Roman, Hungarian, herbal, and eucalyptus. You can also go to the hammam and relax in the ice cave and "salt fox hole".
Vynohradiv
A town in Berehove district of Zakarpattia region. It is home to the Teplytsia sanatorium. The resort is famous for its various therapies: balneotherapy, aromatherapy, Nordic walking, physical therapy, etc.
The local waters come from the depths of Chorna Hora. They differ in temperature, mineralization index and chemical composition. Olehivska water is useful for metabolic disorders, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract. Borzhavska water is suitable for those with irritable bowel syndrome, chronic pyelonephritis, etc.
Tourists can also relax in the steam room or Turkish hammam.
Be sure to visit the ruins of Kankiv Castle. It is believed that the first fortifications appeared in the IX century. The building once served as a backdrop for the films Groza nad polyami (1958) and Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven (1975).
Nyzhnie Solotvyno
A village in the Uzhhorod district of Zakarpattia region. It is home to a sanatorium with two thermal pools the waters of which are rich in silicon and iron.
People with bone, joint, heart, vascular, and skin diseases often come here. Here, tourists will enjoy modern medical procedures: hydromassages, physiotherapy, pearl baths, and underwater shower-massage.
Travelers will also be able to go to the sauna, vat and Turkish hammam.
We also recommend that you visit to the Ploteni Palace in Velyki Lazy. It was built by Count Nandor in 1896. Here he held artistic performances and hosted intellectuals. Nowadays, the Uzhhorod District Center for Children's Creativity operates here.
