The world's worst air carriers have been named: Europeans are on the list too
Experienced travelers know how badly airline miscalculations can ruin the experience of a vacation or business trip. And some of them make such mistakes more often than others.
To help passengers make better airline choices, AirHelp, an online passenger rights protection service, has ranked the world's worst carriers. The list was published by Express.
To rank the carriers, the experts focused on three key factors: punctuality, customer service, and claims handling. They gathered arrival and departure statistics for each aircraft and calculated how many flights the airline operates on schedule.
In addition, passengers themselves had an impact on the list. Experts interviewed thousands of airline users from more than 54 countries. They were asked to rate the level of food on board, comfort, and airline crew.
Both objective factors and passengers' opinions were used for the ranking.

According to the results of this study, Tunisia's national airline Tunisair was the worst performer. Polish Buzz Airlines, which operates charter flights to popular tourist destinations and regular flights within the Ryanair group, did not perform much better.
In general, the top ten worst air carriers were as follows:
- Sky Express
- Air Mauritius
- Tarom
- IndiGo
- Pegasus Airlines
- El Al Israel Airlines
- Bulgaria Air
- Nouvelair
- Buzz
- Tunisair
However, the experts also used the data to rank the best airlines. Brussels Airlines took first place here. The Belgian operator serves more than 100 destinations in Europe, North America, and Africa.
Qatar Airways is in second place. The airline operates flights to more than 170 international destinations on five continents from its base at Hamad International Airport. Also in the top list are companies based in the United States, such as United Airlines and American Airlines.
