The whole podium: a unique situation took place at the Biathlon World Cup
The second stage of the new Biathlon World Cup season started in Hochfilzen, Austria, on Friday, December 8. The competition began with the men's sprint race, which provided not only a dramatic outcome but also a unique situation with the winners.
"Norwegian Tarjei Bø took the gold medal, five seconds ahead of his compatriot Sturla Legreid. Sebastian Samuelsson of Sweden took third place and a bronze medal. All of these biathletes have in common that they are Olympic champions, with the Norwegians being the current ones.
Bø and Legrade brought their country the gold medal in the relay race at Beijing 2022. At the same time, Tarjei was also the first at the 2022 Games in the mixed relay, as well as in the regular relay at the Vancouver 2010 competition. Samuelsson, in turn, won the relay race with the Swedish national team in Pyeongchang 2018.
It is worth noting that captain Dmytro Pidruchnyi started in the sprint in Hochfilzen for the first time this season as part of the Ukrainian national team. For him, this race was a tie for 52nd place. Anton Dudchenko was the best of our team, finishing 47th.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the Ukrainian national team performed poorly at the first stage of the Biathlon World Cup, which took place in Estersund, Sweden.
