Turkish super heavyweight Umut Jamkiran (23-0, 21 KOs) confidently defeated Azerbaijani Tariyel Jafarov (34-8) in the second round to win the WBC Asia title. The fight took place in Istanbul and ended in a technical knockout.
From the very beginning, the 36-year-old Turk was in full control of the fight. He put pressure on his opponent, landing hard punches to which Dzhafarov had no answer. The Azerbaijani could not keep up the pace and, realizing that he was unable to compete, at some point tried to run away. Jamkiran caught up with him in the ring and landed a series of punches, knocking him out.
Dzhafarov managed to get up, but the Turk continued his attack. Soon, his opponent was back on the floor and almost went over the ropes. After the third fall, he no longer wanted to continue the fight. The referee stopped the fight, awarding Jamkiran a technical knockout victory.
For the Turkish boxer, this victory was the 23rd in his career and 21st early.
