The three most visited countries in the world in 2023: who earns billions from tourism and what the top 10 looks like

Every year, more and more people travel the world, and the demand for famous tourist destinations is growing rapidly, which brings considerable amounts to the budget of countries through taxes. In 2023, France became the most popular country for travelers.

It is known that earlier, in Italy, namely in Venice, there were so many tourists that the country introduced a special tax on tourism to reduce the influx of people. However, the state is still in the field of sight of priority vacation destinations, so it keeps its place in the top 10 most visited. UN Tourism collected statistics on tourist trips and compiled its own rating.

As reported earlier, France took first place in the ranking. It is not surprising as last year social networks were flooded with photos of the Eiffel Tower in Paris from different angles. In total, there were 100 million arrivals to the country, and it earned $68.6 million (UAH 278 million) from tourism services.

After France, the second place is occupied by the center of shopping and siestas, Spain. In 2023, it received 85.2 million visitors and earned $92 million (UAH 373 million), which exceeds the revenues of the competitor that took the first place in terms of the number of travelers.

The top 3 is closed by the United States of America, where as many as 66.5 million people from all over the world traveled across the oceans. The country received a huge profit of $175.9 million (UAH 7.13 billion), which made the United States the leader in the ranking of those who made the most money from tourism.
