The third season of "House of the Dragon" will fix the "Game of Thrones" flaw: what is it about
The "House of the Dragon" series has become a real event for fans of George Martin's universe, continuing the epic story of the Targaryen dynasty. Despite the successful start of the first two seasons, the series did not escape criticism, including from the author of the book himself.
George Martin expressed concern that the showrunners had prematurely gotten rid of key characters, which could have a negative impact on the plot. The network reported that the third season of "House of the Dragon" will fix the "Game of Thrones"' flaw.
Ryan Condal, executive producer, said in a recent interview that the third season will feature "one of the coolest things" from the books that has not been shown on screen before. The details remain a mystery, but he hinted that it will be an important element of the story.
"We have several moments that we are carefully building. One of them is particularly significant: it is often mentioned in the books, but it has never been shown in full on screen. We thought it was a great opportunity to fill this gap," Kondal said in an interview with Comicbook.
After this interview, the web exploded with speculation about what exactly Kondal had in mind. The most popular theory among fans is the appearance of a mysterious glass candle made of obsidian. This artifact, according to Valyrian legends, allowed sorcerers to see events taking place in different parts of the world.
Other fans assume that the candle will end up in the hands of Helena Targaryen, which could significantly affect the course of events. It's also interesting that in George Martin's books, candles were made in black and green colors, which symbolize the opposing Targaryen camps in the struggle for power.
The author of A Song of Ice and Fire has repeatedly spoken about TV adaptations of his works, and not always in a positive way. He even claimed that "in 999 cases out of 1000" books are better than their film adaptations. After public criticism of Dragon's Den on his blog, he deleted the post, but this did not prevent fans from drawing conclusions. It seems that Martin is now more focused on a new project in the Game of Thrones universe, the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series.
Currently, Dragonsong has been officially renewed for seasons three and four. Despite the growing interest, the second season received the lowest ratings among viewers due to the large amount of dialogues and the absence of the expected sea battle. However, the finale of the second season gathered a record 8.9 million views, which confirms the high level of audience interest.
