"The situation requires courage": Putin tells Kursk region governor he must "solve extraordinary tasks"
On August 8, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had a conversation with the governor of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Alexei Smirnov, in connection with the fighting in the Kursk region. During the conversation, the leader of the aggressor country said that Smirnov should be "courageous" in solving "difficult and extraordinary tasks".
The conversation took place via video link. The recording was published by the Kremlin's press service.
In particular, the dictator noted that Smirnov was "recently" appointed to the post, but life poses "extraordinary, difficult tasks to help people."

In particular, while speaking to Smirnov, Putin also said that he was aware of the situation in the Kursk region, but that he "would like to hear you assess the situation in the region right now."

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on August 6, the Russian Federation said that the Ukrainian military broke through the border in the Kursk region, in particular in the Suzhansky and Korenovsky districts.
Local authorities reported that active fighting was taking place on the border in the Kursk region, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, consisting of about a battalion of tanks and armored vehicles, attacked the positions of Russian troops near Nikolaevo-Daryino and Oleshnya along the border.
According to ISW, Ukraine's defenders in the Kursk region have advanced up to 10 kilometers into Russia. Defense Forces armored vehicles reached positions along the 38K-030 Sudzha – Kornevo highway, overcoming at least two defense lines and a Russian occupation stronghold.
