What is happening on the labor market in Ukraine

In Ukraine, for the first time since the beginning of 2023, competition in the labor market has intensified. The country still lacks doctors and blue-collar workers, but the overall number of vacancies fell by 3% in November. This situation may change only after the New Year.

In general, there are jobs in Ukraine, but the geography of employers' activity remains uneven, according to a study conducted by a major HR portal. Compared to pre-war figures, the largest increase in jobs was recorded in the west of the country:

  • Transcarpathia - "plus" 180%;
  • Ivano-Frankivsk region - 167%;
  • Khmelnytsky region - 147%;
  • Chernivtsi region - 142%;
  • Lviv region - 138%.
Vacancies in Ukraine have decreased

At the same time, an interesting trend in November was observed in the border and frontline regions. Despite the overall drop in the number of vacancies, there was even more work there. In particular, Chernihiv region recorded a 3% increase, Mykolaiv region - 2%, and Zaporizhzhia region - 1%.

The highest competition for jobs was in the IT sector. Here, it is 20 times higher than the average. However, the situation in IT is unstable: "For some positions, the number of responses varies by 30% from month to month," experts say.

At the same time, it is most difficult to fill vacancies in the labor and medical fields. In particular, there are few responses to job offers for endoscopists, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, miners, cutters, hirudotherapists, stampers, and industrial training masters.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, experts predict that in 2024, medical workers and psychological assistance specialists will be in demand in Ukraine. Construction workers and people with engineering specialties are already in demand. At the same time, experts in Ukraine talk about structural unemployment.
