The ruble hits the trash: the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange 'dealt a blow' to the Russian currency

Binance clients are prohibited from selling and buying 15 cryptocurrencies with rubles

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange in terms of daily trading volumes, which previously refused to support deposits in rubles, has dealt another blow to users from the Russian Federation. This time, the trading platform has banned the exchange of rubles for 15 crypto assets, including Ethereum, Litecoin, and Solana.

Binance representatives explained this decision by "protecting users and maintaining high-quality trading". They also clarified that some spot trading pairs may be removed due to low liquidity or trading volume.

In this regard, starting November 20, cryptocurrencies such as Cardano (ADA) will not be able to be bought or sold for rubles on the crypto exchange, Algorand (ALGO), Arbitrum (ARB), Arkham (ARKM), ARPA, BNB, BUSD, Polkadot (DOT), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Polygon (MATIC), NEAR, Solana (SOL), Worldcoin (WLD), and XRP.

"The delisting of the spot trading pair does not affect the availability of tokens on Binance's spot platform. Users can still trade the underlying assets and quote assets of the spot trading pair in other trading pairs," Binance said.

As previously reported, in September, Binance announced its complete withdrawal from Russia and the sale of its business in this country to the CommEX crypto exchange. The decision to leave Russia was made amid international pressure in connection with the full-scale aggression of the Russian army against Ukraine.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that a number of the world's largest countries, including the United States, opened criminal cases against Binance, accusing the company of, among other things, violating the sanctions regime and helping Russians circumvent international financial restrictions. In this regard, since the beginning of 2023, several top managers have left the company, including the top of its Russian division.
