The repairs will be very costly too: which expensive cars are better not to buy

It is a well-known fact that premium cars are usually overpriced. In many cases, you simply pay for the brand. Regardless of the initial outlay, every driver wants a car that won't burden them with years of expensive repairs.

However, for those who need speed and have the means to afford a powerful car, expensive repairs are not such a serious problem. Drivers who can afford these cars will definitely not skimp on maintenance. Still, experts have compiled a rating of premium cars the repair prices of which are simply unreasonably high.

Chris Pyle, a mechanic, noted that this is a completely logical proportion - as the cost of a car increases, so do the repair costs.

"It is when you get into exotic ones that the repairs are crazy high. Brake jobs in excess of $1,000 and tires that are $300+ each. Hopefully, the engine or driveline does not fail. You can be looking at $30,000 or more. Sometimes even just doing basic maintenance is absurdly high," the expert said.

When compiling this rating, Pyle did not choose a specific model (except, for example, the Nissan GT-R), as the list is general.

Nissan

Nissan is not a premium brand and is in the so-called golden mean when it comes to maintenance and repair costs. However, as Pyle notes, the GT-R is an exception in the Nissan lineup.

The first Nissan GT-R was introduced back in 1969 under the name Skyline. Nowadays, the models are hard to find, especially the R32, which has become one of the most sought-after Nissans among collectors due to its advanced technology and impressive performance. According to Car and Driver, the newest GT-R will cost you from $123,000 to $223,000 in the US market. Mechanical problems and damage will also be expensive.

BMW

CarEdge experts have released a list of the 15 most expensive cars, and there are more BMW models than any other brand. According to RepairPal, BMWs require expensive maintenance at an average of $968 per year. Expect to pay at least $17,516 (for the X1) to $18,900 (for the X6 M) for repairs over ten years.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is the standard for combining luxury, style, and advanced technology. The cars are also known for their premium materials and powerful engines. Despite this, Mercedes repairs are incredibly expensive. Steven Elek, head of the vehicle data analytics program at Consumer Reports, said, "Over 10 years, Mercedes-Benz models are more than double the cost to maintain and repair as those from Lincoln."

Land Rover

A Land Rover will cost you an average of $735 in annual repair costs in the first year and about $18,228 in maintenance and repairs over the first ten years, CarEdge experts calculated. RepairPal also questioned the brand's reliability, ranking it 31st out of 32.

Consumer Reports ranked Land Rover as the second worst brand after Jeep in terms of maintenance and repair costs.

Porsche

Analysts predict that 51.17% of Porsches will require major repairs within the first ten years of ownership. According to CarEdge, this is 16.08% more than other brands in the same price range. Cayenne and Macan are the two most expensive Porsches to maintain.

Bentley

The Bentley Bentayga (average new price: $287,638) and Continental GT ($364,625) are the two most expensive luxury cars to maintain. Including depreciation, insurance, maintenance, financing costs, and fuel costs, CarEdge notes that owning a Bentley over five years will end in an average of $285,586.

Ferrari

According to several Ferrari dealerships, the average annual cost of maintaining a Ferrari ranges from $1,500 to $2,000. Plays With Cars expert Doug DeMuro analyzed that the actual costs will be higher. For example, you will have to pay more than $2300 for tire and oil replacement and more than $1700 for front brake pads and rotors replacement.
