Ukrzaliznytsia to deliver Bethlehem Light to 24 railway stations in Ukraine

The Peace Light of Bethlehem has arrived in Ukraine from Slovakia and was handed over to representatives of the Plast scouting organization. On Sunday evening, December 10, the first official transfer of the Bethlehem Light to the military and volunteers took place at St. Sophia Cathedral.

The fire will then be distributed via Ukrzaliznytsia to 24 railway stations in Ukraine, where Plast members will burn the fire and distribute it in their communities. The lamp will also be delivered to the front line for the soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces along with Christmas gifts.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that on the eve of the Christmas holidays, Slovak scouts handed over the fire at the international pedestrian checkpoint "Mali Selmentsi". The fire was used to light lamps and candles.

The UZ Telegram channel noted that at 18:40 on December 10, they received the Bethlehem Peace Light from the scouts. The heads of 14 trains will deliver the fire to 24 train stations in Ukraine, including Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Izium train stations, in less than a day.

According to the company, on December 11, anyone will be able to receive the Fire for their home at the railway stations of Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Sumy, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Lutsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Lviv, Uzhhorod, Ternopil, Korosten, Znamianka, Izyum, Pokrovsk, and Kramatorsk, where safe stands with the Bethlehem Peace Light will be set up.

On Sunday evening, the transfer of fire to volunteer organizations and the military took place in St. Sophia of Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a symbolic light that symbolizes brotherhood, helping others, and transmitting light and goodness. In recent years, it has already become symbolic for Ukrainians, as many of us need support and mutual assistance," said Ksenia Dremliuzhenko, Head of Plast in Ukraine.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on St. Nicholas Day in Kyiv, the country's main Christmas tree was lit up on St. Sophia Square. It was lit for the first time according to the new church calendar on December 6, and was installed and decorated at the expense of benefactors.
