The occupiers shot a group of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region: The Prosecutor General's Office has launched an investigation
The Russian occupiers executed Ukrainian prisoners of war again. On October 10, they shot 9 Ukrainian defenders in the Kursk region.
The occupiers' war crime was reported to DeepState, which assured that the Ukrainian soldiers fired to the last bullet and were eventually forced to surrender. The Ukrainian Ombudsman appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross over another Russian war crime, and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine launched an investigation.
"Our sources in the 1st Separate Tank Brigade informed us that on October 10, the f*ckers shot drone operators and allies near the village of Zelenyi Shlyakh. Additional details of the circumstances are being investigated, but it is known that the guys went to their positions thinking they were in the relative rear, but were already forced to make contact with the enemy and were shot back. However, the number of BCs was limited and they were forced to surrender," DeepState said in a statement.
DeepState added that the situation in the Kursk region is "not so good" at the moment.
"The defense forces are taking stabilization measures, but it is extremely difficult to restore what has been lost. We discussed the situation with other officers and commanders in different areas. UAV crews should take more seriously the possibility of an enemy breakthrough at their position and not neglect security," DeepState summarized.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, responded to the reports of another execution of Ukrainian soldiers.
"Information about the possible execution of 9 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kursk region by Russians is again being spread on social media. Such actions are a gross violation of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War! I have once again sent letters to the UN and the ICRC regarding another crime of the Russians. These actions must not go unpunished, and the enemy must be held fully accountable. Russia is a terrorist country that violates all the rules and customs of war. The international community should not turn a blind eye to such crimes!" the Ukrainian Ombudsman emphasized.
In turn, Ukrainian soldier Stanislav Bunyatov, nicknamed "Osman," said that Ukrainian soldiers never surrendered to the enemy and kept fighting to the end.
"The guys were in the rear, there was a breakthrough, the f*ckers entered their forest belt from two sides, none of the pilots surrendered voluntarily, the guys f*cked to the last! If they could have retreated, they would have. Very worthy fighters were killed!" he emphasized.
A soldier who runs the Telegram channel "Officer" confirms that Russians killed unarmed defenders. He adds that it happened after the enemy launched a massive assault on the Lyubymivka-Novoivanivka line and managed to build on its success.
"The guys were already hostages of the situation, because as of noon on 10.10.2024, there were enemy forces on both sides of the landing, and the exit from the military base, which was in the landing, led directly to an open field, so they had to lay down their arms, because there was no option to retreat," the statement said.
The Prosecutor General's Office announced the launch of criminal proceedings over the alleged shooting of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war in Kursk region.
"The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and an international crime. An investigation has been launched into the violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder. We are doing everything to identify and punish all perpetrators of crimes committed by the aggressor country against Ukraine and Ukrainians," the United state political administration assured.
On October 6, it became known that Russian invaders had shot Ukrainian soldiers at close range in New York, Donetsk region. The execution of three unarmed Ukrainian soldiers from one of the adjacent units was recorded by drones of the Azov Brigade.
On October 1, the Russians carried out the largest known execution: they took the lives of 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk sector.
The killing of unarmed Ukrainian soldiers by Russians has become increasingly frequent in recent years. And this is not an "excess of the executor": according to ISW analysts, the Russian command approves the executions of captured Ukrainian soldiers.
