Soon, "Superman" fans will be able to rejoice in the great news. The new movie is already at the final stage of production and will be released soon.
American film director and screenwriter James Gunn has presented another update on "Superman" – formerly known as Superman: Legacy. The Hollywood Reporter has learned details about the new movie and told when the long-awaited premiere will be released.
David Corensworth will play the lead role, and Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane. The production process is nearing completion after six weeks of shooting in Cleveland.
James Gunn, director and co-chairman of DC Studios, shared the news with his fans on the Threads platform, where he thanked Cleveland for its hospitality.
"#Cleveland – today we leave you after six incredible weeks of filming. From the moment we first arrived here 'scouting' just under a year ago, the tower shone with the colors of Superman – and I knew this was a special place," Gunn wrote.
The director said that on the streets of Cleveland, locals often thanked him for filming in this city.
In his comments, Gunn added that they still have "a few weeks left," noting: "It's a long shoot... but we're getting close to the end!"
Production on "Superman" began in February, and it is James Gunn and Peter Safran's first feature film at DC Studios.
The film will be the first project to focus exclusively on the Man of Steel.
Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor, and Dragon's Den star Millie Alcock will play the role of Supergirl.
Wendell Pierce (Perry White), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sarah Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gategi (Mr. Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Kerrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy) Gardner) and Maria Gabriela de Faria (Engineer) round out the cast.
"Superman will be released in US theaters on July 11, 2025.
