This time, Apple fans won't have to wait a whole year for a new iPhone. In the spring, the company will show the budget iPhone SE.

According to MacRumors, the fourth generation of this smartphone will undergo a large-scale modernization. The new iPhone SE will get several features from more expensive gadgets, while retaining its position as the most affordable new model in Apple's lineup.

According to the latest reports, the iPhone SE 4 will have a new design that will resemble the iPhone 14. It will have a large 6.1-inch OLED display. For comparison, the current iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch screen. The move to OLED is part of Apple's broader strategy to phase out LCD displays across the iPhone lineup.

In terms of performance, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to be powered by the A18 chip, which debuted in the iPhone 16 series last month. The device is also expected to switch from Touch ID to Face ID. This means that the budget model will also lose the physical home button.

Other notable updates to the iPhone SE include:

USB-C port, which will replace the Lightning connector;
an action button, the function of which is presented in the iPhone 15 Pro;
Apple-developed 5G modem;
48-megapixel rear camera instead of the current 12-megapixel one;
8 GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the latest model to date.

The increase in RAM will allow the iPhone SE 4 to support Apple Intelligence, the company's suite of artificial intelligence features that are expected to begin rolling out with the release of iOS 18.1 later this month. This inclusion would make the SE 4 the most affordable iPhone capable of running these advanced AI features, something that last year's standard iPhone 15 cannot do.

And the best news is that with all these improvements, Apple is expected to keep the iPhone SE as a budget option. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests that the device is likely to cost between $400 and $500, just like previous models.

As for when we should expect the new product to be available, several sources indicate that it should be released in the spring of 2025. Given that all previous iPhone SE models were announced in March, a March 2025 launch seems likely. Apple suppliers are reportedly preparing to start mass production in October this year. This also confirms the version of the March presentation.
