The network showed how Kyiv residents used to escape the heat on the capital's beaches in the 1980s. Archival photos
Kyiv's beaches have always been very popular with residents and visitors on hot summer days. Thanks to unknown amateur photographers, we can see the leisure time of vacationers as it was in the 1980s.
The archival photos were posted on his Telegram channel by Kyrylo Stepanets, a Kyiv guide. Some of the locations for water recreation have changed a lot.
"Kyiv beaches of the 1980s," the post reads.
The published photos show how Kyiv residents were vacationing on Trukhaniv Island, in Hydropark, near Telbin and Raiduzhne lakes, and in Rusanivka.
Darnitsa in Kyiv was first mentioned in documents in 1509. At the end of the 19th century, a train station was built here, and the area itself turned into a famous vacation spot for Kyiv residents and a summer cottage.
In 1870, the Central Railway Station was opened in Kyiv. Its first building was constructed of yellow brick in the Old English Gothic style.
