The most famous pygmy hippo now has her own song, which has already been translated into four languages. Video
Moo Deng, the pygmy hippo cub who became an Internet star a few weeks after her birth, already has her own song. The composition of the most famous hippo has already been translated into four languages: Thai, English, Chinese and Japanese.
The song of Moo Deng, who lives in an open zoo in Thailand, is called "Moodeng Moodeng". The cheerful 50-second track was released by the music company GMM Music, People writes.
In a funny song it is sung: "Mommy, mommy, come play with me. Please, mom, come play with me. Jump with me, mom." It is about the mother of the dwarf hippo, Yona.
The song comes after the BBC reported that Moo Deng, whose name translates to "jumping pig," has helped double the number of visitors to Khao Kheow Open Zoo. On Saturdays and Sundays, the number of people wishing to see the star hippo has increased from 3,000 to 6,000 to 7,000 daily, zoo staff say.
However, the increase in attendance forced the zoo management to take care of additional security measures. They installed video surveillance cameras. After all, some annoying zoo guests deliberately throw things at Moo Deng to wake her up when she is sleeping.
"Such behavior is not only cruel but also dangerous. We need to protect these animals and provide them with a safe and comfortable environment," said Narongwit Chochoy, director of the Thai zoo.
The Thai zoo's Instagram and TikTok pages are filled with Moo Deng-related content. Since this cute hippo was born (September 6), keepers have been filming her every move and posting it online. Some of the videos have already gone viral.
In addition, many companies use the image of this pygmy hippo in their brand advertising. Moo Deng's cute face can be seen on T-shirts, balloons, and even cakes.
"I wanted people to know her, visit her at the zoo and watch her online. But the level of Moo Deng's fame has exceeded our expectations," said zookeeper Attapon Nundi.
Zoo staff hope that Moo Deng's fame will draw public attention to the unfortunate fact that pygmy hippos are endangered. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, there are less than 3000 of them left in the wild.
