A new electric car model from the Romanian manufacturer Dacia has surpassed Tesla as the most anticipated electric car of the year.

A recent study by Value My Car evaluated the search results for electric cars that will be launched over the next 12 months. The data was obtained from Google Keyword Planner as of January 2025 and reflects the number of searches for each model on the Internet.

The new Dacia Bigster topped the list with 1.5 million searches, almost twice as many as Tesla's new Model Q. The Volkswagen ID.7 came in second place, followed by the Jeep Wagoneer S and the GMC Sierra EV Denaili.

A representative of Value My Car emphasized that accessibility is as important to owners as price. "People are looking for electric cars that fit both their budget and lifestyle. What is interesting is that demand depends not only on price, but also on what the EV has to offer in terms of practicality, range, and usability. More drivers are thinking about how and where they will charge their cars, and manufacturers need to step up by improving infrastructure and making it more affordable to own an EV," he said.

What is known about the Dacia Bigster

The Dacia Bigster is a new rugged SUV due to be launched in Europe in spring 2025.

This model is the first Renault-powered model to benefit from the new HYBRID 155 powertrain, a step up from the HYBRID 140 range currently available.

The hybrid model is powered by a 107 hp combined gasoline engine and two electric motors.

Dacia claims that the Bigster can remain in all-electric driving mode for up to 80% of the time in the city thanks to regenerative braking.

Inside, the Bigster is equipped with additional features such as seat support, dual-zone air conditioning, and a panoramic sunroof.

The model is equipped with a detailed multimedia display, six speakers, and an Arkamys 3D sound system. There are also parking sensors, automatic windshield wipers, hill start assist, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functions.

A spacious trunk and 4x4 powertrain also make this SUV one of the most versatile on the market for new electric cars.
